Web Marketing Celebrity Bloggers Technology Culture Event Toronto

This is a mash-up report of the tech talk that happened after a recent Meetup event in downtown Toronto on 15th November 2016. On that evening  Tania Stadnik a veteran b2b marketing consultant and the current president of the AMA Toronto opened and closed a discussion between four technologists who shared insights on how to get slow adopters to embrace new technology, and especially new marketing platforms. Below are the pictures left unpublished (perhaps for good reasons) from the occasion as detailed in my article on Toronto Guardian, Marketing Technologists Discuss The Future of Advertising which was an in-depth look at the debate between a google guy, a creative agency VP and a synaptic transfer engineer working for a company called Brainsights.

Scattered through the photo collage above you might see some notable Toronto event bloggers of which there were plenty at the event. Each blogger related the parts of the evening that affected them most, and in their own way they each contributed more to the group discussion afterwards in their own blog portals.

Wedding Girl wrote about how she craves AR software for wedding planners that would take care of her business marketing needs sure, but moreover it might add value to her enterprise by allowing her brides to try on wedding dresses ‘virtually’ from the comfort of their own homes, and see wedding venues perfectly decorated in advance, digitally.

Charles Moffat from True Love Bites wants to help design an AR dating app. Good ideas in his piece as Charles outline exactly how his smart phone assisted event would use Facebook API to find commonalities among participants. He sees people sharing headphones and following audio clues that are well researched (by the app sifting through Facebook feeds and profile data)  so as to ‘break the ice’ and spark fruitful conversations among people who would otherwise be total strangers.

These are the leftover photos from the event; as a blogger I try not to use the same pics twice, and I  also try not to use pics of people eating in any of the important media I make , just here in my WordPress diary. Reader? How did you even find this place anyway?  Sorry Mary for the pic above.

These rather bland photos are all the original pictures of the party that I have left, as I posted my best images on Flickr – Album 15 Nov 2016 AMA Toronto Tech MeetUp

Among the celebrity bloggers at the event, and a woman who is very careful about protecting her personal image, Raymi the Minx blog post about marketing technology at the 15 Nov 2016 AMA Toronto event is hilarious. and I dare not post a bad picture of her in this rag of place. This is my personal fart pad blog… what are you even doing here?  There is photo of Raymi avail here at this time.

Shannon however…

shannon1cardShannon Tebb was at the event and afterwards she wrote on marketing matchmaking in the future on Shanny in the City blog. At one point in the proceedings she mentioned the dating site ‘Bumble’  . Is that site still around?  I hope so. I haven’t tried it yet. If not , well then let me explain this was something of a ‘fad’ dating site that came and went quick in the shadow of Tinder.

Shannon Tebb from Shanny in the City

The panel laughed when Shanny mentioned bumble com, and yet I bet it made millions – dating sites always find ready adopters because there’s a lot of lonely people out there, and that should be a place where technology can help!

New marketing technology dominates a matchmaker’s business niche; people get sick of things faster than they adopt new platforms. Shanny went on to say in her blog that she has ‘…seen this happen with plenty of online dating sites – they get upgraded and try to charge money and ultimately fail because nobody cares and there a free sites ahoy.

It may not seem like it was very informative, but these types of events do have a positive effect on attendees. These special occasions where we all get together to talk about technology raise-the-vibrations of entire community.

On that night like so many others we got caught up on each others’ stories and made memories and feasted for a time on our common dreams and ideas.

To Help Urban Fitness Events Make Leaders in Toronto

As time goes by, I tend to venture out too far ahead of myself until all my new ideas seem unrealistic.  So it helps to take a day off and travel around and clear my head.  On such occasions I pursue my hobbies, and my passion for history and my love of finding rare antiques and collectibles (while digging in old dumps, or rummaging through cluttered antique shops) are my primary escape mechanisms.  As the author of Dumpdiggers antiques blog I often get invited to speak on camera or contribute some ideas to the nature and evolution of collecting antiques on the web.

Rob Campbell getting interviewed for TV showSo I ventured outside my apartment on Monday March 12 2012; I left my 565 sq ft condominium apartment in The Distillery District of downtown Toronto, which is literally a glass box. This is the place where I spend most of time , a prison of my own making. Some days the only things I produce are original thoughts, and I’m always working on improving the packaging.

digging and finding treasure in Toronto

Dumpdiggers blogger Rob Campbell discusses what makes an old thing into an antique, and what makes an antique thing worth buying. Antiques as an investment = a terrible idea.

To my great satisfaction, my capacity for clever notions has not diminished over the years, and other people are now starting to take notice and listen to my ideas.  Some of them are veteran TV producers.

Here I am getting interviewed for a television show;  truth be told its an audition, and if I get the part it could be good fun.  The guy running the camera is a big TV star himself,  and he was coaching me and that always helps.

After that bold performance, which honestly I hope I never see, I had a Chester Chicken dinner from the Crossways Mall at Dundas St and Bloor which I ordered to go.

Urban Warrior Race on 8th Sept 2012, is Toronto Half Marathon with Obstacles

So I ate that boney fried Chester Chicken at my next stop, and the smell must have certainly impacted the generic aroma of the otherwise sterile offices of DEVAN atmospheric marketing in west Toronto.

At approx 12:45 pm I met Joshua Turnbridge and Cathy Muffolini on the third floor of 1345 St Clair Ave W.  These folks are part of the organization that’s managing and promoting this year’s annual Urban Warrior run Toronto , which is a unique extreme fitness competition that will take place on Saturday, September 8th, 2012

Toronto, half marathon, urban fitness, competition, runUrban Warrior is a sporting event focused on challenging individuals of all fitness levels to perform under ‘abstract’ conditions. This years’ race involves climbing, jumping, sprinting and crawling will bring on hard sweat, athletic camaraderie, bursts of laughter and a few tears!  This is premium leadership development with its own risks and rewards.

One attractive reward is the Warrior After Party! All participants will gain free access with their race VPN security system passes, along with one free beer ticket.

Josh Turnbull, Rob Campbell, Cathy Muffolini, Urban Warrior, obstacle course, fitness event, competition race in TorontoIts a fun teaching people what they really want to learn and I look forward to working with these people on making this unique project a huge success. My passion for antiques has helped me over the tipping point and I’m really findable in that niche – these people, like everyone else on planet Earth, can do the same things with the same tools.

St. Andrew’s College Athletics Program

There is a lot of emphasis on kids being active these days. On average, children who are physically fit and play team sports do better in the classroom. A recent study conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) investigated the link between physical activity in children and academic performance in school. They interviewed 214 children of middle school age. The study, reported in ACSM’s official journal, Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise that while kids do better in school when they are active, the best performing students reported their exercise comes from extra curricular activities not associated with school ie hockey and soccer clubs and mountain bike riding.

St. Andrew’s College is located in Aurora Ontario. They are an all boys private school with a long history and proud tradition. Their alumni include famous actors, Prime Ministers, professional hockey players and great artists. This is a video from St. Andrew’s College Athletics Department.

If you like Ontario minor league hockey news, read about St. Andrew’s latest victory over Upper Canada College last week. The Saints are crushing this season, like they do every year.

The next St. Andrew’s College Open House is on May 4th 2011.

Virgin Mobile sets Nov 19 as National Fearless Day

Sir Richard Branson asks us to show him what it means to be fearless...  and he promises to give some lucky Canadian $5000

Enter your video and you could win $5000

National Fearless Day

Branson himself made headlines in the 1990s when he floated around the world in a helium balloon, and more recently he  sailed across the Atlantic in an open boat.  So he’s without question one of the most fearless businessmen on planet Earth.  As such he’s perfectly qualified to judge a video contest that asks Canadians to submit their most fearless video for consideration and a chance to win $5000
