Lenzr’s September Contests: Great Prizes for Photographers!

Lenzr’s back again with two photo contests for September.  The prizes for this round are sure to make photographers pay attention, but just in case you haven’t, here they are:

Classy Summer Drinks

The Classy Summer Drinks contest recognizes the power of a mouth-watering drink at the height of summer.  Have you ever been stopped in your tracks by an impossibly good-looking drink?  Have you ever made an impulse purchase based on a drink’s picture?  Lenzr wants to be seduced by photos of your most delectable drinks under summertime conditions.

This contest is sponsored by a company devoted to providing the best stainless steel ice cube trays.  The winner will receive a package of stainless steel containers, which can be customized by browsing the sponsor’s sizable catalogue.

A Manufacturing Process

You may know all about cameras, from ISOs to shutter speeds.  But do you know how they are made?

Lenzr wants photographers to peer through closed factory doors in their newest contest, A Manufacturing Process.  Capture exclusive photos of automated machinery performing some sort of manufacturing task to win.

The contest is a bit different this time because the winning photos are intended for the sponsor’s website.  Specifically, the photos are meant for the sponsor’s pages on process manufacturing and lean manufacturing.   The winner will license their photo to Solarsoft for $250, and so will three other runners-up (at $75 each).  There’s also fair chance Solarsoft will feature winning photos on their site, but they are not obligated to do so.

Voting for both contests will begin on Sept. 15, 2011 and run until Sept. 25th.  In each case, the 10 photos with the highest scores will advance to a panel of judges, and the winner will be announced on Oct. 1, 2011.  Contests open to Canadians 13 years of age and older, but unfortunately it’s not valid in Quebec.

PEZ is Portable Luxury Candy Collectible

Pink Panther PEZ Dispenser, and Shrek Donkey PEZ  Dispenser, are two models have been earmarked by Steve Reynolds as hot collectibles for the future. He has his reasons for taking them out of the original packaging – how else can he play with them?

The Pink Panther PEZ Dispenser is Special

Thanks Steve Reynold for giving up a matter of time to show me around your store. I wrote about my own encounter with a Pink Panther PEZ Dispenser on Robsome, and that rendition grew larger and then transformed itself  into an article on Dumpdiggers.

My own unmitigated passion for the past has propelled me closer to Collecting PEZ Dispensers in the Dumpdiggers Library.  I also started a thread on the Dumpdiggers discussion forum inviting folks to upload pictures of their own PEZ collections.

Paul Kenyon sits behind a great big desk at 185 Eastern Avenue in Toronto. The words Portable Luxury imply a strange request for images of ‘luxurious convenience’.  So its safe to assueme the Lenzr admin intends to collect shots of  things people can take with them if they are  ‘on the run’; objects people can use to get comfortable somewhere else in the world. The Portable Luxury photo contest on Lenzr is looking for handheld luxury items.  How do you move your comfort zone?

The prize is a Las Vegas vacation for two people courtesy of the portable toilet rentals company sponsor that’s arranged to provide airfare and hotel accommodation for two people for three days and two nights in Las Vegas.

This challenge is sponsored by a magazine for people over 50 that is really breaking new ground in Toronto – because its all about this great city from an older persons more sedate and refined perspectives.  Winning this contest would be a strange dream come true that might indeed be more of a curse than a blessing esp if you are a woman over 50 and trying to loose weight. This web challenge’s strange prize is being fulfilled by this cool Toronto chocolate company. This will be a fun story to read about in July, when the prize is awarded and we all get to see the winning picture. You can read more about this over 50 magazine sponsor and prize on the Lenzr blog.

Crowded Places is for less sophisticated People Photographers
lenzr photo contest producer web development TorontoThe crowded places photo contest is sponsored by a Toronto web developer that’s generously offering a Blackberry curve phone as prize. The prize offering fits nicely into their new mobile strategies and will allow users to keep track of their own social networks, which are crowded places.

The contest is pretty straightforward. Submit shots of crowds and use the caption to tell stories. The contest will no doubt create a long index of popular tourist attractions and pedestrian bottlenecks from all across Canada.

Both of these contests will end July 1st 2010 when the highest ranked photo is elected winner.

The Do Over Day Holiday is February 26th, Everywhere

Do Over Day is Feb 26th All Over The world!

National Do Over Day is the magic occasion in which you really can take back a moment or re live an emotional response to something.  The event can be positive or you could use the time to turn something negative into something positive – or I suppose you could go entirely negative and then perhaps do it over again next Feb 26th.  What I’m saying is the opportunity exists on that day to actualize an emotional crumb and sweep it clear one way or the other.

Do Over Day is a new holiday in Canada

On the Do Over Day National Holiday website you will find some funny bits and tips, tactics, videos and amusing ecards to help you on your journey.

Do you know how many people regret talking to an attractive stranger, and listed this missed opportunity as the number one thing they wish they could do over? I dont know either – you will have to visit the site to find out. I do know that the stat prompted me to consider building a website for missed opportunities.

There are wires and telephone lines and speaker cables and computer cords all mixed up under desks, and AC electrical cords spider web octopuses at outlets. This contest theme and the mayhem that has resulted from the idea was engineered by an office phone system guru living and working in Toronto. That company conceived of the idea and has donated the wonderful prize, a wireless headset.

Kids in Action photo contest on Lenzr sponsored by Toronto dentist Dr Natalie Archer

Also available on Lenzr this month is an exciting new photo contest on Lenzr called Kids in Action that gives shutterbugs lots of creative latitude on a wide open playing field.

The prize in this challenge is a premier high quality NiteWhite teeth whitening kit that’s an advanced enamel bleaching product and usually only available at a dental office as it requires a trained dental practitioner to make the molds.

Sponsored by Toronto dentist the challenge is designed to highlight the obvious connection between healthy teeth and healthy kids… I get it! .When I look at that contest plate picture I wonder if that skateboarder is about to tumble and tear a tendon and maybe smash his front teeth or mash his molars in the concrete. But please dont misuinderstand that’s not our intention… Rather we dont necessarily want to see photos of tooth decay, dirty braces, or gum disease or baby teeth or anything like that … just kids in action.

Nite White teeth whitening Toronto dentist Dr Natalie Archer If the winner is local, that person who is super skilled with a comera will be invited to stop by the office at Bloor and Sherbourne  for a chat and custom fitting for the NiteWhite whitening trays. If the winner is from out of province then admin will ship the prize PLUS extra tooth floss and toothbrushes, toothpaste, and mouthwash. WIN dental supplies for an entire year.

Both Lenzr contests END March 1st 2010. Contest open to all Canadians excluding Quebec and those 12yrs old and younger. Thanks for participating. Good luck!

Virgin Mobile sets Nov 19 as National Fearless Day

Sir Richard Branson asks us to show him what it means to be fearless...  and he promises to give some lucky Canadian $5000

Enter your video and you could win $5000

National Fearless Day

Branson himself made headlines in the 1990s when he floated around the world in a helium balloon, and more recently he  sailed across the Atlantic in an open boat.  So he’s without question one of the most fearless businessmen on planet Earth.  As such he’s perfectly qualified to judge a video contest that asks Canadians to submit their most fearless video for consideration and a chance to win $5000
